The Greater Mary Association

The GMA is a not for profit association formed to:

  1. initially oppose the building of the Traveston Dam. Following intensive research, we believe that the construction of this dam will cause degradation of the Mary River, Sandy Straits, the Ramsar site, and eventually of Hervey Bay, deplete species, and damage associated industries, including recreation fishing, professional fishing and whale watching;
  2. to work towards the development of a whole of catchment plan for the Mary River and adjacent coastal area, and communities; both big and small;
  3. to collaborate with other associations working with the same objectives.

JOIN The Greater Mary Association Inc, and help put an end to speculation about this dam. Help yourself, your community and your children. CSIRO Land and Water Research has revealed that people living beside a healthy ecosystem are themselves healthier and more contented. Click here to see how you can help.
